Abstract:

This research deals with the implementation of the reconstruction of vertical crust movements in the northern part of Europe, according to tide gauge observations. The theoretical framework, methodology and algorithm for determining the kinematic parameters of vertical crust movements of tectonic blocks are found based on the data of durative tide gauge observations. Kinematic parameters of the tectonic block characterize line position of zero velocity vertical crust movements, the velocity of changing maximum inclination angle of tectonic block α, directional azimuth of changing maximum inclination angle of tectonic block β. Determination of these parameters was done by the method of iterations in several steps. Kinematic model of vertical movement of tectonic blocks in the northern part of Europe has been built for an average period of tide gauge observations Δt=60 years. The retrospective analysis of kinematic parameter changes of the investigating area has been performed. The dependences of kinematic parameters of the block will serve for further deep studying of vertical crust movements. The suggested method can be used for similar studying in other areas of the world seashore. It also allows to predict changes in shoreline position which is significant for designing and constructing of hydraulic constructions at the seashore. Besides this method gives the possibility to perform reconstruction of past vertical crust movements.
